Dome light stays on

On my 1999 F-250 Super Duty the interior dome light stays on even when the doors are closed. Have to remove the bulb from the light to keep the battery from running down. Any thoughts?

Probably one of the door sensors. Is the door ajar light on ?

or it could be relay in the dome light circuit.

sounds like the doors sensor. Use some WD-40, or P.B. Blaster on the latch mechanism, don't be shy with it either. Open and close your door a bunch of time and it should work. You truck is equipted with a "Battery Saver", the lights "should " go off after a couple of minutes. I had the same problem, and the penetrating oil solved it!

Many thanks to all who replied. My "door ajar" light was not on. I tried the WD 40, and the light still stayed on. But after I waited 30 seconds or so, the light turned off. As "Fantastic Ford" posted, it must be the "battery saver" that leaves the light on for a while, and then turns it off. Many thanks again for everyone's help!

Hey Ford Fanatic,

What are you spraying ? I have a 03 f250 with the same issue. But my truck doesnt have the old school botton device that you can spray and pull out. I dont see any kind of button or device that the door would hit/strike to turn the lights out.

Can you tell me where it would be on the door area?

Thanks

You need to spray the latch on the door. The sensor is attached to it inside the door. Again don't be afraid to spray the s--- out of it.Get it as far into the latch as possible. It'll be messy, but it'll clean up and your problem will be solved. Good luck!
