Door lock switch

Anyone know what may cause the door lock switch on the driver and passenger side to stop working while the key fob and keypad still make it work??
I have a 2006 F-250 XLT superduty diesel.

RE: Door lock switch

Do you have a OEM Vehicle Security System? Or just remote access...

RE: Door lock switch

It does not have a security system, just a key fob and keypad under driver door handle.

The lock switch started acting funny when it would pop back up after I locked it while the door was open. It did that for about a week then went dead. The passenger door does the same thing.

Dude your awesome, how do you know all this stuff?

RE: Door lock switch

Being that ‘both’ door locks are non responsive, and 'baring' any lock switch or power distribution/grounding circuit issues which is unlikely (not unheard of) on a new truck, I'd check ‘straight off’ for a VREF and switch function at the main switch panel as a start.. If both the panel switches prove out dead, then I'd suspect the VSM (Vehicle Security Module) as it houses all the relays for Park Lamp, Headlamp, Door lock/Drivers Door Unlock and is micro processor controlled transceiver in one unit.. Or circuits/connectors leading to it.. The VSM needs to see a command for ‘lock and/or unlock’ at the switch/s via the VREF/Ground and then activates the lock actuators/motors for the given command...Reference power to the switch panel is provided through the VSM. Being that the key pad and fobs still work, would lead me to think it was a processor problem..

Could be any of a number of causes, but a test at the switch would give a 'good' point as to a direction to go…

Do you have a DVOM??

Have you contacted Ford for a warranty visit?

What's a DVOM??

I thought I'd try and find a solution here first before a warranty visit?

Thanks for all the help.

I'm going to try and post a pic. of the truck. Let's see if it works.

Nice truck....Looks great against the back ground glow..

A DVOM is a digital volt ohm meter.. Without a scan tool to check for stored trouble codes/system failures for the VSM, a 'quick' test at the lock switch for voltage with a DVOM would be an indicator as to if it were related to the module or its circuits, or if power was at the switches, another avenue to go....

Shouldn't be a huge problem since it's a constant, and not intermittent issue...

RE: Door lock switch

OK, I disconnected the remote start from the door locks and got voltage to the switch.

When I lock with the drivers door switch all the doors lock, but then the drivers door pops bock open.
Same thing happens when I lock with the passenger switch.

If I lock the drivers door then unlock with the switch everything unlocks normaly.

Would this be a switch problem or relay?

Thanks
