E350 oil leaks and repair cost
 

Hello people,

This is my first Ford. So please be patient.

I used the search option and found nothing on the subject or E350 oil leaks. So can any experts out there tell me an average cost of repairing an oil leak. Most likely its caskets that need changing. Is that an expensive job on these vans. Just looking for an estimate cost.

Leak is not bad only visiable from the bottom. I'm just preparing myself for when its time.

There are many places for oil to leak out of an engine. Many times its up top somewhere and runs down to the bottom. Unless you have already determined the exact place , its always a good idea to clean the suspected area and confirm what you think is the source. Among the list are; valve covers,oil filter, oil pressure sending unit, pan gaskets, oil pan plug, to only name a few. Sometimes coolant will leak and get mixed with oily stuff and appear black like oil. That's why a thorough diagnosis is so important before even trying to estimate a cost to repair.

Thank you Hanky. I understand and agree, but the worst case and most expensive repair solution on a Ford van. Lets say to work on this van and its diffficulty would the engine need to be taken out? Or can all those repairs be done with the engine in? I would most likely have a mechanic repair all those above that you mentioned. Would it be $500.00 up to $1900.00. I've never owned a Van and don't know these vans are they more difficult to work on? Are they more expensive than others?

Theres a story behind this that I'm not sharing. Long story short. I'm thinking of purchasing this van and estimating the cost to repair someday.

Until you know the area and cause it is practically impossible to estimate a repair.
There are instances where the motor may need to be removed in order to do certain repairs. In this particular case I would have a good shop look at it and determine the source of the leak first.
