Exhaust manifold repair
Hey everybody:
I just discovered a leak on the manifold on the passenger side of my '01 F250 4x4 (5.4 motor). What options do I have other than letting the dealer fix it for about 700 bucks? I looked under and around it and it seems that it would come right out without having to take apart the whole truck. What have you run into when you did this repair? Will it just come off or will it be a big PITA?? ANy suggestions on what manifold to get? Should I look at some of the performance ones and just do both? ANy help is appreciated. Thanks |
RE: Exhaust manifold repair
studs broke off......its noy a easy job

RE: Exhaust manifold repair
spray the studs with penetrating oil everyday for about a week before you try and do it, hopefully youl get lucky and not break them off

RE: Exhaust manifold repair
because unless you like drilling them out and using a easy out .snap on makes a pretty good tool if they dont break off inside the head

RE: Exhaust manifold repair
Got the job done. MY mech (not the dealer) did it in about 3 hours. Two studs broke, but he was able to get them out. Running fine, 'cept for the new issue from the #3 plug replacement. That's a whole 'nother story.

I had a similar problem depending on your mileage it is under warranty till 80,000 miles. so take it to Ford and make them fix it under warranty. it is like 7 years and 80k
