F 250 6.4 Twin Turbo no start
 

Hello I purchased an 08 F 250 with manual 6 spd trans. I bought it at a very good price and it had a loud noise in the motor that was not an internal engine noise like mains, rods or wrist pins. Had it towed to house started and sounded fine except for the noise I tried to put it in gear and engine stalled and will not start. The most it will do is speed up the starter. Crank position sensor is good. Would the cam position sensor prevent the engine from starting? The only codes I have pertain to glowplugs 4, 5 & 7. I have fuel to the fuel rails. Any Ideas would greatly be appreciated. I can't help but think the noise is attributed to not starting but I could be wrong.

What are you using to scan for codes? Some are good, and some are very poor at digging deep for ECM and TCM codes.

That is the best one. Cam sensor can prevent a start, but it would also TYPICALLY throw a code. What are your cranking rpms, and are you getting SYNC when cranking?

It is about 200 cranking and when it speeds up starter is hitting 500 I don't know what you mean getting sync? I can test the crank and cam sesors sync? Yes I would think if the cam sesnor is bad it would throw a code, usually when have no code the problem would be mechanical.

Cam and crank signals need to be in Sync for the engine to start. The PCM monitors that and reports if they are or they aren't synchronized - via a PCM PID. All good scan tools should pick up every PCM PID that exists - including cam/crank sync.

Today I performed some tests. I tested the injectors no errors found. I tried to start the truck and then did the obdII 6 test and every cylinder has an EWMA misfire the timing is off. I do not know how to test for the cam and crank to be in sync
