F-250 7,3 TD Where do i let the air out of the fuelsystem?
I have a 2000 model F-250 7,3 Turbo Diesel and I accidently managed to empty my fuel-tank,
thanks to misleading fuel-gauge:( And now of course I wonder where do I air out the system and please, can somebody maybe reply with a picture unless it is very easy to do it? Thanks! /Patrik |
RE: F-250 7,3 TD Where do i let the air out of the fuelsystem?
The 7.3 has a 'return to tank' system and doesn't, or shouldn't require any purging.. On a empty tank you should be able to cycle the key a few extended times and fuel should be circulated through out the system.. If any air is in the head/fuel rail it will purge on its own with some run time..

Most all systems ever made work the same - self bleeding.

on my 92 F250 which has theinternational 7.3 there is a bleeder valve (much like a valve stem) right by the feul filter.

Non PSD is altogether different....

Any system that opens for intake normally, without the presence of fuel will bleed itself. Most do - I'm sure not all. Some mayuse a signal switch indicating fuel presence before allowing flow from the fuel system. Either way you look at it though anything but normal is a big pain in the butt.

A schraeder valve isn't really a bleeder valve - right?

The Schraeder valve on the old 7.3 IDI is an air escape. As for the PSD, I would utilize the water drain to release air.
