F-350 MPG + which year / motor is best and worst?
We currently have a 2011 F-150 and I'm thinking about moving up to a F-350 with a diesel (used, low mileage - post ~2010 preferably - depending on feedback to question below). However, before I pull the trigger, I'm curious what kind of mileage I might reasonably get when hauling a couple dirt bikes + gear + tools, etc. at ~75 mph.
Similarly, what kind of hit would I get when hauling a 7' x 14' enclosed trailer, guessing it weighs in the 3500 - 4000 lbs, cruising at ~68 mph? Lastly, I seem to remember that folks were having a lot of problems with blown head gaskets with one of the recent motors? Is that accurate? Are there particular years / motors that we should avoid, or are better than others? Thanks in advance for any guidance and insight you can provide. |
Well, mine is an old one with a 300 6 gas and the best I ever got was 10 mpg when loaded.

I have a F350, 1999 7,3 Diesel, 6 speed.
Some recent experiences Load 2300 pounds. Tail gate up. Cruise at 65. 21 MPG Unloaded tail gate down 65 MPH 22.2 MPH I am running 100% bio-diesel. You may get slightly more mileage using DF2 as it contains a bit more energy than B-100 |
