Ford F250
I am thinking about buying my first ford diesel. I currently own a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4, with the Hemi motor. It is a great truck, but 9 to 10 mpg in town sucks! I have always loved the Ford powestrokes, but have never been able to own one. I found an 2006 F250, Crew Cab, Lariat, four wheel drive with the off road package. It has 90,000 miles on it and looks damn good in the pictures. It is located in Miami, FL. However, I am a little nervous about the price. It is advertised on Autotrader for $19,500. I talked to the dealer on the phone today and he said he would sell it for $18,900. Does this low price mean that something is wrong, or has anyone else heard about this kind of a deal, or close to it? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Without knowing exactly how its optioned even being a Lariat, thats about right as far as a value. Dealer retail may be a bit higher, but a private party sale may be a little less. They seem to be about split.
The 6.0 has been known for some issues, my persoanl truck pushing about 400hp has been flawless at 115K. We could get into a good discussion on the 6.0. Good thing to do is have your local Ford store run an Oasis Report on the trucks VIN before you travel, or get too involved in the truck. It'll give an idea of whats been done by Ford under warranty, and recalls/repairs completed. If it checks out, ask if there's any service documentaion included with the truck. If it's on a small sales lot, it may have been removed when detailed. Usually has a way of disappearing. Best thing you can do is get as much information and history available, have it looked at if you unsure, and make an informed descision before signing on the dotted line.. |
Thanks for the welcome. This F250 along with being a Lariat, has the chrome package, black nerf bars, brand new tires, and a bedliner. The dealer emailed me an auto check report and it passed with flying colors. The oasis report revealed that it had the egr valve, oil cooler, and the fan clutch replaced in March, 2009 and a new injector in October 2009. That was it, so no major problems there.

I actually purchased a 2004 F250 4X4 Lariat Crew Cab with the 6.0 Powestroke, and I freaking love it! I am asking myself, why did I not have one before now? It has only 49,500 miles on it and is in great condition. I am averaging 15 to 16 mpg in town, that is a hell of a lot better than 9! Off road, it does great for a big truck and when I punch the gas, woah! Here are some pictures of it.
