Intake on for 7.3L

I have a 2002 F-250 with the 7.3 power stroke. I am looking to put a new intake on this beast but I'm not too sure what to get. I know a few companies make air intakes with the pod filter for more airflow, but they have a pretty good price tag on them. What is there to stop me from just buying a $60 pod air filter and putting it on my existing intake boot? I know that the 7.3s work better with more air so I would like to get a new intake and a better exhaust so the motor can breath. Let me know what your thoughts are, thanks.

Turbos are matched to the engine.
If you continue to put more air in you need to put more fuel in and the cycle repeats itself until the pistons start to melt. If you have the funds to play that game all the power to you. You have a good reliable engine and trying to get more and more out of it comes at a price.

I found a few turbo components like the wicked wheel. I also found a throttle spacer and I'm looking into mapping chips. I'm new t this, this is my first diesel truck. Thank you for the advice, I will look into better fuel delivery.
