97 F250 5.8 stalling
Hey all, I’ve got a 97 f250 5.8 was driving down the highway when the truck just shut off. Pulled over and started right up. Drove about a mile and same thing happened. Pulled into a rest area and let it sit for 5 minutes and wiggle the distributor cap and fire truck back up. Drove about 25 miles to work with no issue. Any possible causes thanks

Things to look at;
Crack in the distributor cap
Loose coil/spark plug wires
Low voltage wire associated with the distributor with insulation rubbing against an engine part thus cutting off (shorting to ground) the power

I always remember a similar situation where the driver had a ring of keys that weighed quite a bit and that raised heck with the ign switch system, the darn thing would shut down at the craziest times, took me for a real ride ! Once he reduced the weight on the ign key the problem disappeared.
