New F-250 Owner

Greetings all. I bought a 2012 F250 with the 6.2 gas engine this past August. After a long search, CarMax had this truck with only 19k miles. It's pretty clean and looks almost new.
So far, I love it. It's a single cab, 8' bed. I just needed a truck that I could haul dirt and rock and other landscaping materials and eventually the trailer for a sub-compact tractor. I don't need 4 seats and wanted the extra bed capacity.
I don't drive it much and it just turned over 20k and I want to get the oil changed. I have no idea what was used in it before. I will be changing it myself as well as all other minor maintenance.

I'm looking for advice on type and brand. I'd like to use full synthetic as that served me well on the 2005 Escape (V-6) and later my 2012 Tacoma (V-4).

As far as I understand, even if the older oil is regular, I can switch to synthetic.

I am wondering about any potential break in this vehicle might need as well.

Switching to synthetic oil is a good idea for your F-250, even if you're not sure what oil was used before. Since your truck has low miles but is older, it's already past its break-in period. Just make sure to choose a synthetic oil that matches Ford's recommendations for your engine. Even though you don't drive much, it's still important to do regular check-ups like changing other fluids and checking brakes. For a truck that's not driven often, remember to start it now and then and maybe move it a bit to prevent tire flat spots. This way, you'll keep your truck in good shape for hauling and towing.
