oil pump issue?
my 96 f-350 5 speed 4x4.351w has 50psi oil pressure when cold, after an hour of use drops to 20psi. at idle 10psi when warm. my question is is there a way to tell if its a worn pump or bearings. it has been this way for going on 6 months.truck has 145,000 miles. thanks

I have seen plenty of worn bearing , not so much worn out oil pumps. If that helps .
To find out for sure you need to pull the pan to check either one. And I always replace the oil pump when doing bearings anyways. :) |
thanks for that. one of my big ford buddys said that you can take the pan off with the motor in the truck, did it lots.yeah not sure what ford he was talking about, well not on my truck. after undoing the pan i find out its a no go, pan hits the bell housing and cant swing past the oil pump doh. :mad:find out now you need to jam the whole works up into the cab. back together, what a pain getting in some of those bolts,. have to do it when i have some lift capacity.
