Default Do I need a block heater?

I have a 2006 f-250 my first 6.0 diesel I live in NY should i spend the 85 dollars to have a block heater installed is it really a need?

I dont know too much about diesel's. But i think it would help it start easyer in the cold and warm up the engine for you.

From my experience I would say "yes" its worth it, it helps to keep the oil more fluid so it makes it easier for your engine to turn over when you try to start it. When the oil gets really cold, it thickens up and makes it harder for the crank to turn through the thicker oil. Plus it could cause more wear on your batteries since you'll probably have to crank the engine more.
