So long ford

I’ve been an avid ford person for 50 + years. No more. Recently had my 18 pos f350 throw a rod at 93k. No warranty and I’m out 25k +. There is NO excuse for that. I’ve been religious with oil changes even when ford pulled the bs move of removing oil life, and do NOT drive hard at all. So, hello Chevy Duromax - may you put the Found On Road Dead to shame. This hurts. I will miss the BBD. But again, no excuses ford. That’s full crap. Oh. And btw. My new Chevy tells me oil life left which ford decided no one needed to know - so i suppose change every 7500 mi 😞. So disappointed ford

Can we ask what were the circumstances at the time the rod went?

If there is some type problem that was known or not known,we would appreciate it very much if you would share the conditions at the time it let loose.

Thank you ,hope you have better luck with your new choice.

Don’t know

no idea. Driving along and the truck geared down to 5th at a 0 deg to 1 deg climb - which was not typical running 60-65 as it would normally stay. In 6th. Otherwise everything else seemed normal. 6 Qts oil just vanished - no drips, noticeable change in smoke - just gone. Never lost oil pressure. Then started hearing the knock about 2 hours later.

Please bear with me as we attempt to figure out what went wrong..

Depending on where the throttle position was, could help explain why the downshift.
There is something very puzzling and that is : for that amount of oil to disappear, some questions come up.

When was the oil last checked, just a starting point.
That oil had to go someplace and was any attempt to determine just why and where?
There is an oil path that when the lack of oil begins a particular rod will suffer first. We have that now.
Where is the vehicle presently and were you or anybody else able to check why 6 qts of oil just flew the coupe?
Are there any external traces of oil on the underside of the engine or at the back if it went out at road speed?
If you can provide some of the answers,it might help to isolate the cause and just maybe explain what went wrong.
Thank You for your help.

I was surprised to learn that synthetic oil doesn't smoke like conventional oil when it's burning. It burns clear. You can smell it at low speed with the windows rolled down, but not on the highway.

To burn 6 quarts of oil would definitely foul the spark plug(s).

It was not BURNED !!.
It either was not there or leaked out, and that size leak you couldn't miss !

So,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,what really happened?
