Steering wheel locked while driving

My truck is 2006 F-250 4x4. Today I was coming out of a parking lot. I need to make a 90 degree right turn and then a 90 degree left turn. When I tried to make the 90 degree left turn the steering wheel would not turn left. It was frozen. After I pulled it right and left it went back to normal. Does anyone have a cause and fix for this? I'd hate to sell a truck I have only owned for a few weeks. I read online where another person had an accident when it happened to him.

Thanks,

James

Was the truck steerable at all or was it just very hard to turn left?
There are sealing rings in the spool valve assy of the steering box that may need to be replaced.
Usually best to replace the entire steering box.

It was totally locked. It would not move. It only lasted a few seconds but seemed like forever. I pulled left and right until it was free again. Now is normal but I know it is not safe.

Unless there is something getting in the way that the steering system is blocked from moving to the left, steering box replacement should correct that.
