What's that clunk, clunk sound?
2000 ford f250, superduty, powerstroke
Turbo charged. Super cab, long box. 4 wd, 6 speed manual with floor shift. Very large truck, new tires. When driving down a street or road, at every bump in the road, the suspension or something makes a clunking noise. It only makes that sound when driving over bumps. I never noticed it until others pointed it out. It seems to be coming from the front end of the truck. Could it be a problem with the suspension, shocks, wheels out of align? I don't know what it is, or if anything is wrong. Its a large heavy truck, I thought it was just wheels bouncing. Is something wrong with suspension, shocks? Thank you Pat:confused: |
I have the same problem!
Did you ever get a response about this question? I have a 2002 F350 that seems to be doing the same exact thing!

Sometimes you can find something loose or worn by just looking under the vehicle and trying to move things by hand.
|
Could it be the coil springs wiggling a bit in their mounts?

You will need to get that vehicle on a lift and have a steering/suspension inspection preformed. If you need help locating parts please let me know.

Usually a vehicle makes a noise if it has loose bolts or some parts. Just give a visit to the local car mechanic, it will surely help you resolving the issue.

Clunk
My 2011 F350 does the same thing.
I found the 2 forward body mount bushings deteriorated. They don't look bad on the outside but when squeezing them I found that the inside is totally deteriorated and falling apart. |
