Default Why only 99-04 F250/F350 front D60's?

Iv been asking allot of dumb *** questions on a 4x4 van forum so I figured I'd better start asking some of those DA questions elsewhere before my welcome wears out over there.

Iv been told the easiest front axle to install in my 95 E350 is the B.J. dana 60 from a 99-04 F250 or F350. Can anyone explain why this might be? Im guessing the width of the leaf springs but I'm not sure.

Iv been looking for a kingpin dana 60 and figured I would need to cut suspension off and start over.. But this is all speculation and I'm looking for more info.

Were can I find specific info about ford trucks and vans like axle width's etc. Anyone?

did your van have four wheel drive to start with or not? the reason I ask is because I've never heard of Ford having four wheel drive econolines before.
