Having trouble with car. Car runs fine at ideal but the reverse lights are on while the car is in park cluster lights are on but when you bring the rpm up to about 12 to 15 thousand the cluster lights go out and the tach stops working the car goes into limp mode battery light comes on. check engine light on.

Codes showing are po563 po462 po2067

If I shut the car off and restart it everything is fine until I bring the rpm up and then it does the same thing again

Any help would be greatly appreciated


The car has 160,000 miles on it New alternator and battery voltage at battery is 14.25

Did you ever figure out the problem. I have code PO563 "system high voltage". I changed the alternator in February 2023. Back then the alt would jump to 19volts while running at idle. Also battery acid boiled and vented out of the top onto the battery. It would cause the tail lightsgt to go out and the dash cluster would go out. I assumed it was the alt. Now June 2023 and something similar is happening. The lights and the dash cluster go out. But when checking the voltage I do not get the high 19 volts. It tests at 14.5ish volts which seems to be normal. I watched a ford mechanic on Utube with the PO563 code and he found a blown fuse that powered the PCM (Powertrain Control Module). My fuse isn't blown but while checking all the fuses under the hood they all looked like they had been hot. The prongs were black and where the fuses made contact they were bright almost mirror shiny. I see that no one responded to your queries from 2016! I may need a new Forum

It would help if you told us the year , model and engine of your vehicle. Depending on the year, some charging systems are controlled by the PCM (Power Train Computer)..

2006 Ford 500 SEL / 3.0L Duratec 30 V6/ 6 speed Aisin F21 automatic. Digging through the threads I found another guy from 2019 having a similar problem. I can't find a wiring diagram for the PCM Powertrain Control Module online. I found some chafed wire loom going to the PCM but no wiring seems to be compromised. Although after inspecting the harness the car will not start or connect to my code/scanner communicator. In the other thread the expert suggested checking the grounds for corrosion. I'm going to need a wiring diagram. I looked online and found the shop manuals for between $107 and $65. Chilton or Haynes usually don't have good wiring diagrams and are around $40 for a new one. I watched a Ford mechanic use a Ford scan tool with Ford software diagnose a similar problem same P0563 code (system overvoltage). His was blown power fuse to the PCM. I've checked all the mini fuses. They were all good. I'm convinced it's an electrical problem. I just have to find it.
