grinding front end noise while braking

The reason I suggested placing the trans in neutral then applying the brakes was to help isolate the noise possibly to a drive train problem that showed up when the brakes were applied. Can you do that?

Did you swap the wheels to see if the noise moved?

i did not swap wheels , i will do that this evening and let you know, i checked axles again on the ground not jacked up and inner axle has some movement , but isnt that normal? i will swap tires and go coast down the long hill again see if the noise moves to passenger side !

There should be no movement of the parts except turning.

Coast will not be the same as applying the brakes immediately after taking it out of gear.

swapped tires , noise still on left side still only time I hear it is when applying brakes.. now going to.look at axle replacement and seals
