Loud noise inside car.

I recently bought a 06 ford five hundred with 144k miles on it. Now I knew the car would need work, I got it for next to nothing. 800$ from a friend of the family. But I had to have something while my trailblazer was in the shop. The more we drive it the more we like it though. So I’m considering fixing it. But the car makes an insanely loud noise while driving that can be heard when you’re inside the car but not outside. It doesn’t seem to be the transmission as it’s shifting fine.

Can you provide some addl info like , when do you hear the noise, at what speed ,is it present in all gears, does it seem louder from the front, rear ? As you are aware trying to diagnose a noise without information and not being there to actually hear it can be somewhat difficult.

The noise is always present no matter what speed. It’s like a scrub or grinding noise. I have extremely limited mechanical knowledge. But if i had to guess i would think it was bearings or an arm in the suspension but like I said I have no idea. You can feel the vibrations through the floorboard. More so on the passenger side I believe.

And it seems to be coming more so from the front than the rear.

If, it is safe to assume that you are not going to do the work, why not consider having a good repair shop take a ride with you, plus at least look it over to get an idea of just where the noise is coming from. It could be a wheel brg, CV joint, tire, suspension or even brake system part.
My wife had a similar noise problem with her vehicle. She corrected it by leaving me home !

I have the same noise, very loud vibration sound. I changed 3 wheel bearing and 1 half shaft, no change. It starts at about 35mph and is louder on left curves. When slowing down, you can hear it all the way to stop. Im going to change the RF axle next.

It turned out to be the left rear wheel bearing, even though it got louder when turning left.

Well, it is necessary to sort out the exact source of the noise, if I were you I would have given a whole check to the car before paying any cash for the same, anyways, you can visit some professional car mechanic, he can sort out the problem and fix it.
