P0701 Code and no throttle response

I am troubleshooting a 2006 Ford 500 and it has the P0701 code stored in it. On occasion the car will seem to stop accelerating. You can press the throttle and the RPM will rise but the car will continue to slow down. If you have to pull over bcause the engine will shut off. After waiting about 5 minutes you can start the cr and continue driving. All of this started after the owner had the oiil changed in the transmission. cn anyone give me some insight on this?

Is that a CVT trans?

It has the 6 speed trans. It is not an AWD model. I was told today that if you feather the throttle a few times then get into it, it makes the fault active. I am leaneing towards the TPS but am open to any suggestions.

P0701 is a base code that comes up on scanner when that scanner can't read Ford transmission codes.

You'll need to hook the car up to a scanner that does read Ford transmission codes.

Because you state that the car will operate again after you shut it off, and wait awhile, the Transmission Control Module may be the problem. However, without specific codes this is just a guess.

Thank you. I will try to get a scanner.

you say it started after the transmission fluid and filter was changed ? maybe someone knocked a plug-in off 1 of the sensors on the transmission or they did not get the transmission filter on right or it,s not full enough !
