Right hand cv driveshaft support bearing
 
I have a 2006 Ford 500 with 60000 miles. The rubber mounted support bearing on the right hand cv driveline broke loose from the rubber mount. Is this part replaceable by itself (bearing mounted in the rubber with metal mounting bracket) or do I need to replace the entire shaft? If it is replaceable, where can I find one?

Most auto supply stores should be able to get you a complete replacement half shaft.
Best to change it all and do the job once.

Removing strut
 
I got the new cv driveshaft in but it was a real trick to get the strut out of the wheel hub. I put a OEM spring compressor on but due to the space limitations, I could not compress the spring enough to allow it to come out of the cast steering knuckle. In addition to the spring compressors, I had to jack up the lower a-arm (compressing the strut), put boards from the stabilizer bar link mount on the strut down to the ground and then lowering the jack in order to prevent the shock from extending too much. There must be a better way. Is there some way to hold the shock in the strut from extending other than the way I did. I would like to know the right way to do this as from some of the other threads, I expect to replace the strut bearing sometime in the future.

Broke again
 
Car now has 68000 miles on it and going down the road today and felt a vibration. The bearing on the passenger CV shaft failed again. Basically if comes unglued from the metal mount and allows the shaft to slightly pull out of the tranny and then the shaft can wobble in the metal bracket the bearing is supposed to be in. This is now 2 driveshafts that have failed in exactly the same way. Has anyone else had issues with this? Is there fix besides putting another shaft in and probably failing that one in the next 10000 miles as well?
