Starting problems
 

I've got a 2005 Ford 500 and it sometimes is difficult to start. Stepping slightly on the accelerator gets it to start, so I suspect the idle air control solenoid. Does this car have one? I just came back from Advance Auto, and they tell me they don't have a number for an idle control solenoid for my 500. Are they calling it something else now? Does something else control idle air? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to check out the TPS. If it loses contact at that position, it could send an incorrect signal to the PCM. Have you been able to check for any codes in the PCM?

No CEL. What am I looking for on the TPS?

We're trying to confirm that we have continuity at the idle position when cold. You might also check the throttle body and make sure it is fairly clean ,and also the throttle butterfly. These are simple and basic steps you could check before getting into more complicated things. I believe the part to which you were referring , is called an IAC valve (Idle air control). It is possible that it could be causing a problem, but usually we do the simple and cheap things first.

Many times you won't get a check engine light if the problem hasn't happened often enough, however, a code can be set in the computer as a temporary entry and no CEL to come on. It could save some time if it could be checked for any codes.
