2009 Ford Reliability

I'm looking into buying a 2009 ford flex with 112,000 miles on it.
I'm concerned about the mileage on it.

Does anybody have a Flex with over 100,000 miles on it? Have you had any issues?

Thanks,
Shawn

You might want to research "water pump failure" and see what you find. When the water pump fails, it can/will dump water into the oil and destroy the engine. I just purchased a 2010 Flex with such an engine. My research shows that there are many others that have experienced this also. I think that if the failure is detected in a timely manner, the engine can be saved; but if it already has over 100,000 miles, it may be false economy to replace the water pump on a high mileage engine.

To change the water pump, belts and tensioner(s) can cost anywhere from $1500 to $2500! I found a 24,000 mile engine for $1250 and labor is going to run $1200 to swap them out. Compare that cost to a water pump/timing belt change.
