Integrated Keyhead Transmitter dead
Bought a 2014 Ford Flex and it only came with one IKT. I think water got in it while hunting through a crack in the case... either way, I didn't realize the key alone wasn't enough to unlock and run the vehicle.
Is there any way to operate the vehicle without a functioning IKT, just the key itself? Everything I'm finding online refers to starting a vehicle with a dead Intelligent Access Key, and pushbutton start, but nothing about starting one with a dead IKT and traditional turnkey ignition. What's the process to getting a new IKT without a functioning one and no way to drive the vehicle to the dealership? If the answer is it needs to be towed to a Ford dearlership, I might just torch the thing in my own driveway out of spite... but that's what I was told from the dealership I bought it from (not a Ford dealer) |
IF,,,,,,,,the security system is involved for this, you have probably 3 choices.
the first is the Ford dealership that could either send out a tech to reprogram the system , The second is find a shop that has security clearance and access to the security info The third is to call a locksmith to come out if he has the security clearance and access to the info. Make sure you explain exactly what is happening. The last resort is to have the vehicle towed to whichever is the closest and cost the least. |
