I bought this car used, I've had it for a little over one year. With in the past few months I've experienced a severe and pronounced shudder. It started small at first just vibrating the steering wheel, but now it is much stronger and you can feel it through the seats. It makes a noticeable sound. I notice it most as I am idle at a stoplight. When I am going highway speeds I still notice an abnormal sound.

I took it to a Ford dealership and they said that they could replace the 'motor mount' I believe, at a cost of $250 and that it may not even fix the problem, but that it is not a serious condition.

The shudder is distracting and unnerving, does anyone have any ideas on what is causing it or how I might fix it? Is this a common problem?
