Default 2005 Focus - Headlight Replacement Issue

I'm not completely inept with cars, but I can't seem to get my headlights out. I took the rubber boot off, unplugged the wire, but that's as far as I got. The owner's manual says to turn the bulb counterclock wise, but it won't budge. Any thoughts???

Sounds like you performed what the manual says to do, remove the headlamp bulb cover, disconnect wire connector and remove bulb. Maybe give it a little twist while pulling?

I'm at a complete loss. I cannot get the bulb to twist in either direction - and it won't pull straight out. I hate the thought of paying a dealership to change a bulb! Help!

The bulb (HB5/9007) doesn't twist itself.. The 'retaining' ring does.. Once the protective cover is removed, twist the retaining ring to unlock the bulb.. The bulb has an oring on it's base for sealing.. It can 'stick' a tad, but generally it will just pull witha light pull...
