We use a cooling system pressure tester to increase pressure in the cooling system to about 15 lbs and observe if the press drops . If so then we start searching for where we can see the leak. Most leaks take place when cold and everything contracts. Some only leak when the temp of the engine rises and now the leak shows up.
If no external cause is found then we start looking for internal problems. I could be wrong , but I wouldn't expect a 2016 year vehicle to have anything serious wrong. There should be some kind of warranty on the relatively new vehicle and have you had the dealership check this out?
