Recently I went to shift my car and suddenly my RPM's revved high to 6 and I stopped and shut the car off and set for a moment then started up and took off and it was fine. When it first did it I thought my car was just cold. but the recent time it couldn't have been because I had been driving it for at least 20 mins.It hasn't done that again in a while I don't have a clue why it did it???

A singular event is always tough to diagnose. If something like this happens you just loose a little trust in your ride. Here are some thoughts why an engine might do that:

Stuck throttle. Clean the throttle body inside and out with throttle body cleaner.
The throttle cable may have snagged. Disconnect it at the throttle body and push back and forth in the housing while you feel for resistance. Check the visible part of the cable for broken wire strands. Lubricate the cable. If you have any doubts replace it.

Have a plan B and practice it. Plan B would be to turn the engine off without locking the steering. Practice it a few times at low speed and no traffic. You will loose power assist to the steering!
