P0456 Evap system leak
 

Check engine light is on, this code is popping up on scanner, just found out I have a recall for the gas tank on my 2017 ford focus. Should they be responsible for fixing this code. I go to ford tomorrow to get the gas tank replaced. When I fill up my tank my car tries to turn on but it shudders and cuts off.

Might be a good idea to wait and see what they do. Might be covered by emissions warranty.

Based on your description, code, and open recall its your evap purge valve, if memory serves if your gas tank is being replaced you will also get a new purge valve and charcoal canister.
Ford cannot seem to make a single version of a purge valve that doesn't fail.
