Well now I have a new question..Ive noticed on my 2001 ZX3 that when the car warms up im getting a heavy odor of "I think" coolant, like it seems that the car is running a bit hot but its not showing that it is..there was work done on the thermostat and the thermo housing back in marchso i dunno if that might be related...honestly Im really not fully sure what the smell is,,and I see no leaking of any kind.....but it seems to be more noticed when i drive for longer periods of time and its not oil ,,I know that much... Ive checked the oil and its clean so no cracked head as far as I can tell...otherwise the car is running good...so if any one has any insight on what this could be please leave a comment.......thank you ....oh and in regards to my first question a few days ago...yes I bought the 2001 focus ZX3...couldnt pass it up..only paid $4000 with 75000 miles on it...

 

Have you checked the cabin air filter? It is below the windshield and the black plastic on the passenger side.The plastic should stick to the windshield, otherwise
water drips on the filter and into the cabin.

 

I too have a 2001 Ford Focus that smells like it is allways running hot or burning coolant.. I am not sure it isthe filter, but I will check that.. The smell is also apparent from outside of the car. It seems like it is running hoter than usual, eventhough, there are no indicator lights... Any other thoughts on this?
