tapping

hi.
first post on here so hello everyone.

so I have a problem with tapping on the cam side of my focus but sounds low down ... closer to the driveshaft its quick and does not change with rpm speed, and only really when idle. it disappears normally after its been running for 10-15 mins but not always. I'm pretty sure I'm not mishearing placement so for now going to dismis tappets and perhaps injectors I'm thinking more pulley bearing but doesn't seem to have any play in any pulleys. I've heard it could be one of the rods are slightly bent hope not :(.
I can hear it quite well at the wheel arch but best when sat in drivers sent parked next to a wall or such. I am running with 5/30 oil so maybe there's something there I don't know. not sure what else it could be. any ideas or suggestions??

It might help if you could get a piece of hose to use similar to the way a doctor listens to your heart and carefully place it in different areas when the engine is idling and it should help pin down the area where the sound is loudest. Always be careful around moving parts , belts, pulleys etc.

What about checking the cam shaft positioner it can make a noise like a valve knock and its only about $40.00 it takes the place of the distributor

May I ask are you using the correct weight oil?

Sound like lash adjusters are going bad ... Or weak valve spring
