Default Vibrating Focus... probably not good

I've got a ford focus sedan 2001. Recently its started having a slight vibrating of the whole car, only when I reach speeds over 50 to 55 miles an hour. The vibrating is rythmic and waxes and wans. Its very subtle, I wiggled the tires, and there doesn't seem to be any play. think maybe a wheel weight fell off or tires are out of balance? can anyone help me out?

Default RE: Vibrating Focus... probably not good

I own a 2006 Focus Wagon. I recently had an identicle problem that started at 65 mph or more and could continue as slow as 40 mph. I had had some issues with mal fitting aftermarket wheels and also had bought a set of new tires. I took it to a Ford dealership for a 4 wheel alignment check because it still shook with all the new stuff. The Ford tech there said that the right-front tire (on my new set) looked bad to him. I returned to the tire store where they did a very thorough re-balancing of all 4 wheels AND replaced the bad right front tire. After that I took it out onto the hwy at 80 mph with perfect results. Tires are a very frequent cause of your problem.

Do you see? I had more than one problem that caused the same symptom so it appeared at 1st to be perhaps unrelated to the tires. The techs at both shops just had to be persistant. Joe.
