Ford Freestar 2007

My rear right wheel is intermittently sticking at pull off. Seems worse in reverse. I really noticed it after reversing in stones. There was a deep gouge in the stones where the one wheel dragged.

I thought I felt something stick before that, but it was slight so I thought it was in my head.

I tested it on concrete. Put in reverse, took foot off gas, van would not move until I gave it some gas. Then it would slowly move, feel like it was backing up over a curb, then "break free" and be normal. Does it both forward and reverse. Worse in reverese.

Had someone watch the suspect wheel but she didn't see anything with the wheel. She did say it looked like I was backing up "over a bunp." I traded places so I could watch, and it stopped doing it. All she had to do was lift her foot off gas and it went normally. I tried again, and it was fine. Got in the street, drive a few feet, stopped at a light, and it started again.

I am guessing that I got something bad in the brakes on that wheel. Any suggestions?

 

It is time to have the rear brakes inspected. A good chance there might be stuck caliper pistons or frozen caliper mountings. Problems like this never get better by themselves, but the longer you wait the more expensive it can get.
