04 freestar tranny problem
 
i need help on this problem what is causing this. 2004 freestar v6 after driving for about 20-25 miles tranny starts acting up ill get either a hard shift or it wont shift unless i let off the gas and peddle it then it will shift i already dropped the pan changed filter then added 5-6 quarts of fluid also if iam doing 15-20 mph then down shift from drive to what ever the next one is i think 2nd it doesnt down shift it just acts like its in drive if i go from drive to 1st it down shifts like it should any help on the cause of this would be a big help thanks in advance 110,000 miles

Have you owned this since new or did you buy it used? It could be your torque convereter not locking or unlocking correctly. Could be a selonoid hanging. At 110,000 miles, the van should of had 3 fluid/filter changes unless you run something like AMSOIL. I put AMSOIL in my tranny at the 30,000 mile mark by just doing a pan drop fluid/filter change. Then did a FULL fluid replacement at 100,000 miles. Transmission still shifts today at 111,000 miles like it did the day I test drove it at the Dealer with 2 miles on it.
