2004 Freestar Keypad Programing

I just purchased a 2004 Freestar with the keyless entry keypad on the drivers door. How do I find the code to use this keypad? Also, I only got one key with the van and want to program more keys. I found blank keys on ebay. They say you need two keys to program new keys or take it to the dealer. Does anyone know how to program new keys with only one original key? Thanks,

No I do not know how to program the system with only one key but the instructions for programming the keypad on the door is in your owners manual but here again I believe you need the original code. Best to check with the selling dealer.

I read in the owners manual that the code is on a sticker on the computer. Does anyone know where the computer is located on a 2004 Freestar?

Should be up mounted up under the dash on the drivers side and to the left. Did you get the pouch with the owners manual in it? If you did, is there a white credit card size card in it? If so, there should be a 5 didit number printed on it. That should be the key code.

Will look in my owners manual about this but the power control module (PCM) is located in the engine compartment besides the interior air filter. Another large computer is located under the dash on the left side of and under the steering wheel and is called the smart junction box (SJB)
Hope this helps.

If I remember correctly (do not have book in hand) but there should also be another location for factory door code.....in the glove box.....But as you do not have a second key you will need to make an appointment to get another key programmed. The self programming requires two keys, and the ford dealer can also lift the keypad code from the computer as well, not cheap but worth it.......

Had to have the Smart Module replaced on my 2004 Limited a couple of years ago to erradicate several mico-gremlins from my van (another story). The new Smart Module came with a new Key Card for the keyless entry. Thus I suspect that the Smart Module is the one that controls the keyless entry.

04 freestar keypad

I have found the 5 digit numbers above the fuse box, but after entering them nothing happens. the keypad illuminates but nothing else. my freestar is from canada, does that matter? also is there a way to reset the whole system?

No, The factory code can not be changed. The pad lights up when ever a number is pressed. If it is the factory code it should unlock the drivers door, and then hit the 3/4 key to unlock the rest.

I think they were all made in Windsor Ontario.
