2004 Freestar trac off light

I have a 2004 Freestar that the trac off light stays on.
Now I have no cruise either. The cruise light will not even come on.
Any ideas??
The trac off button seems to do nothing either. When I press it nothing happens.
Please let me know if anyone has any ideas other then taking it back to the dealer.

Thank you

Todd

Had same issue on my 04 Limited. However, I could get the cruise to work if I hit the RESET button for the message center (TRAC OFF) light would stay on, but cruise would then work. Don't know if you have the message center on you model. Resolved my issue by removing the cowling under the hood and disconnecting the harness from the module located on the upper right corner of the firewall. Had lots of road crud and salt stains on the connector. Disconnected the plug (10-mm bolt) and put a liberal amount of dielectrical grease on the female plug and reconnected the connector. The upper cowling comes off by removing the wiper arms, the 4 plastic body buttons and the windshield side just unsnaps, then disconnect the washer fluid lines. The lower cowling comes off by removing the 9 8-mm bolts and unplugginh the wiper motor. This may not be your issue, but it's common as water tends to run down onto and get splashed onto the connector.

I am willing to try anything.
I took off the cowling and I do not see and module?
Where would it be?
My Freestar is an 04 sel with the advancetrac system.
I am going to try to place a picture of the aera so I hope it works.
Please let me know what I am missing.

Left and right side of vehicle is based on setting in the vehicle. Your picture is of the left side. The module is actually inside the vehicle, but its connection point protrudes thru the firewall. It is right above the right hand side strut tower on the firewall. It has about a 1" bundle of wires coming into the connector. The connector is about 4" long x 1" thick. It has 1 bolt going thru it. It is the only connector on that side.
