2005 Freestar P0340 code and hesitation

I had a squealing sound which I thought was a belt issue but turned out to be the Cam synchronizer. I replaced this part (it came with a new sensor as well) and then the van spit out the P0340 code. So far I have replaced the cam sync/TPS and cleaned the mass air flow sensor. The van runs fine but on acceleration at around 40 kmh and 100kmh it starts to bog down and lose power. I have cleared the code and it came back with the same P0340 code. Is there any way to tell if the sensor that cam with the sync is faulty?

Thanks

Darren

Darren,
It could be wiring or the PCM (not likely) but keep in mind that the sensor is a Hall effect sensor and has to be positioned right to work. The Cam sensor along with the Crank sensor tells the PCM when #1 cylinder is ready to fire, the fall back is the Crank sensor alone which would cause major issues running.
