Default Electronic Compass/Temperature display

We just recently bought a 2006 Freestar that the temperature display is flashing '-40F' at start up and eventually creeps up to around '-31F'. Is there a way to calibrate this like there is a way to calibrate the compass?? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I also have a problem with accuracy on my 05 Freestar. Did you get any help with your problem? Thanks

You should probably get the vehicle checked for codes, there is a Smart Juntion Box that includes the compass and temp displays, there may be a code that will lead to the problem. A few years before I would say the ambient air temp sensor is bad, but on a '05 or newer there is so much electronics involved it is a bit more complicated than just saying the sensor is bad.
