Fuel Cap Replacement

Hi There,

I just replaced a crappy aftermarket locking fuel tank cap with a Motorcraft FC1079 fuel tank cap. This cap is listed on several different sites as the correct cap although rockauto lists a few more part numbers in addition to this one.

My question is where does the lanyard connect to? It has been a while since I had one so I can't remember. There is a square hole on the fuel door but the lanyard provided will not reach this. The cap itself fits fine but I would really like to use the lanyard as originally intended.

A picture of an installed OEM cap would be useful. Thanks!

Yes it does... Thanks. It looks like one of the three screws are to be threaded through it. Most likely the top one.
