P0455, P0171, P0174 causes?
 

I have a 2004 Freestar SEL 4.2 with roughly 106K on it. Recently I took it to the dealership to have the torque converter recall performed. Literally as soon as I got it back the CEL came on; before it never had a CEL come on. The code was P0401 and an intermittent P0171. The stealership wanted to charge me for a diag for the code, but I declined. I bought the a new EGR and had my personal mechanic replace the part. The P0401 is now gone.

Now the car is throwing a constant P0171, P0174, and P0455. I have a sneaking suspicion that the tech who worked on the car either didn't reassemble the car properly or the repairs damaged the evap system. Either way, I was forced to drop off the car at the dealer AGAIN for a diag.

Any ideas on what's causing these codes? I've checked all accessable vacuum lines and zip tied a couple things in place, cleaned the PCV on the front valve cover, did a battery reset, dumped some fuel system cleaner in the gas tank...

Help??

Since it is back at the dealer, it would be irrelevent to give an opinion since the dealer is in the best position to diagnose right now. Let's see what they come up with.

Update according to the dealer:

FOUND VACUUM LINE DISCONNECTED BETWEEN ENGINE AND FIREWALL, NEED TO REMOVE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD TO RECONNECT VACUUM LINE AND RETEST 2.50 $527.27

The TSB states that certain vacuum lines and emission/exhaust parts have to be disconnected and reassembled. Seems like the stealership forget to connect something and want to charge me to fix it.

Any advice?

Sounds fishy to me. Ask for a print or number of that TSB. That is a very high rate of labor.

The advisor printed it out at his desk. I found several procedures that could pop a vacuum line loose. The way he worded certain things has me doubting certain things. The service manager will be in on Monday before I know anything more.

The way I see it, if it's that hard to access it to fix it, it likely is that hard to mess up the vacuum line too.
