Default 2.5L I4 - How Tuff?

Well first of all I know thing have and do change. I always heard that a good 4 cylinder from Honda or Toyota is hard to beat. I have heard alot of good things about the 2.5I4 from Ford. What is the history if any on this engine? Also, on the Fusion Ford does not suggest changing the transmission fluld until 150,000 miles. I always though never over 70,000 to make the first change. Oh well was the 2.5 I4 started in other cars like Volvo or Mazda? Some history would be great.

The Duratec 25 is the slightly larger version ov the Duratec 23 that has been around since 2001. It's an inline 4-cylinder engine design that is identical to the Mazda MZR 2.5L engine. It is also the smoothest and quietest Duratec 4-cylinder built to date.
