2006 fusion 2.3

Good morning, My girlfriends fusion starts and just dies. I replaced starter last night.it started beautifully. WE drove. Went and stopped to get a bite. When we leave. She gets in starts and shuts off. We were close to home. So she had it in neutral and turned on with foot slightly on gas. she put in drive and headed home. When we got home. Car was in drive and it stayed running. i asked her to shut off and turn on. It started and shut off. Any ideas? I thank you in advance for any help.

Sometimes we get clues as to what may be going on and if we ignore them ,,,well ,,,,,,,,,,,,!

Anyway, trying to look at what is affected when the throttle pedal is slightly depressed AND this could throw a curve too, 2 things come to mind. They could apply and if not, further checking could be required.
The throttle position, sensor/wiring/connections might have a contact problem . Might be a good idea to confirm no problem there.
Also, if,,,there is a poor ground connection for the vehicle , just moving the linkage might temporarily provide the necessary path for things to operate,so that should be checked out and confirmed all are good.
