Brake Issue

I have a 2007 Fusion 140,000 miles
I have owned this car for 139000 miles. When I am trying to brake especially when running over ruts in the road especially those created in asphalt by trucks. My brake pedal makes noise the pedal then goes all the way to the floor making stoping nearly impossible. I then have to back up the car hit the brake pedal and then go forward and hit the pedal or the pedal goes right to the floor again. All fluids are good and the brakes were replaced 8 months ago. This car has ABS 4 cyl motor.

Usually anytime the brake pedal goes to the floor it's either due to a master cyl problem ,air in the system or a leak in the hyd brake system. Also , when the ABS system doesn't function correctly the system is supposed to go back to std braking without ABS "protection".
You noticed I used the terms Usually and Supposed because there are always exceptions.

In addition: when they did the brakes did they replace the brake fluid? It should be replaced every 3 years or so.
You say the brake pedal makes noise. I bet it is the ABS system that's activated. You also say that it happens on ruts in the road. If a wheel bearing has some play the wheel sensor may not be able to produce the signal. Then the computer thinks the wheel is locking up and activates the ABS. So make sure the wheel sensors are clean and the bearings are fine.

Thank you for the replies I now have some better ideas to look at, and hopefully at not a great expense. The Fusion has been an excellent car as all of my past Fords have been.
