Passenger door Light

I have a Ford Fusion 1.6 Zetec Climate 2006. The front passenger light although the door is shut intermittently the light stays on and I have to bang the door a number of times for the light to go out. I have just notice that if the light on the dash board is on the inside light stays on and if I try to lock the doors they do not lock. Can anyone help me.

Sounds the door ajar switch is hanging up.
You might try spraying the latch liberally with a silicone or graphite based lubricant, lock ease (not WD40 etc) and repeatedly open and shut the door to see if it frees up.

Did you get my reply. I am not sure I sent it correct.

Other than the reply above, no...

I have used WD40 but it was ok for a short time but not sure as the fault is intermittent . I will get some graphite lubrication and try that.

WD is a water displacement (WD) and will dry out, with little lube properties lasting only a short while.
Any oil/grease based lubes can or tend to attract dirt/debris..

Thanks for that information I will go and buy what you suggested.

Tried Silicon Spray but didn't work so back to the drawing board.

The problem at times, is getting lube actually onto the ajar switch. Many of them were nose up an susceptible to stiction and in a location not easily accessible from the door jamb.
You could try continued applications, or, you could remove the trim panel and try getting some lube in that way.
Or, remove the latch and either replace the switch, proving out it was hanging up, or clean and re apply, recheck ops..

If you want/need to remove the trim panel, latch etc, let me know and I can help with some illustration/diagrams..

Can you send me some pictures etc for removing the trim.
Thanks
Glen
