Transmission & Check Eng. Light Need help please.

I have a 2008 Fusion SEL. Every once in awhile the trans & check engine lights come on and my transmission is stuck in a higher gear. I pull over and turn the key off. When I restart the trans light is off and the car is running perfectly. I have had a couple of mechanics look at it but no one can figure it out. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Some things to keep in mind;

when you can correct the symptom by turning the key off then back and restarting the vehicle that tells you the computer has reset and the problem is not present at that time.
Sometimes a scan tool needs to be connected to the vehicle before the key is turned off and a code may still be present.

Many times a poor connection will provide a false reading that the computer recognizes as a fault and goes into limp mode to protect the trans or the vehicle.
Some components require a bias voltage for certain sensors to operate properly and if this bias voltage drops out , bingo, limp mode and symptoms appear.
A good starting point is to check all connections at the trans for making good contact.
Then check whatever you can see for possible corrosion or loose connections.

Having a similar problem in a 2014 Fusion Hybrid but with more lights. I get the wrench light, the advanctrac warning and uphill assist disabled. Then a "get off the road" warning. Two shops have not found the cause.
