what happened to the value of the fusion?

I purchased a new 2012 fusion 6/12 for MSRP 28700.00 now three years later its value with 45k is only 12500.00. thats a 16200 drop in three years or divided by thirty six its thats a 450.00 dollar/mo drop in value. is the msrp too high? or are there problems with this car, i have only had a "very small vacuum leak" (dab of silicone on filler neck)and no other problems. :(

This may or may not make sense...

You'll probably find that like the 2000-2007 Taurus, Ford also got the Fusion right. The Taurus sold like hot cakes and the automotive world was flooded with them. New and used making them "A Dime a Dozen" during their reign. Several other MFGs copied the basic design/shape so some extent to try and cash on that success. The same basically holds true for the Fusion. They're everywhere, this is a main cause for a higher depreciation. A low residual value doesn't mean that there's a problem with any particular vehicle. You also need to look at the fact that there are probably numerous 2012 Fusions with terminating leases that will/are flooding the market with will lower the 2012 residual value.
