I have a 1965 convertible with a 289 2v and 3-speed transmission.

Is it a straight swap to put in a 4-speed transmission? Other than the shifter and linkages are ther any other parts needed or to be customized? The car has twin exhausts if that makes a difference.

I think I need the Ford design transmission for the V8. Does anyone know the part number? What sort of price should I expect to pay for a used 4 speed transmission? I am quite prepared to rebuild it before installing it.
