2004 Mustang V6 will not start

I call myself a more than adaquate back yard mechanic but this has me stumped. Put the wifes Mustang away for the winter in November and start it a few times a month. Last time I tried to start it needed a jump. cranking amps were low on the battery but the car started right up. A few weeks later bought a new battery and installed it. Car turns over strong but wont start. I do not hear the fuel pump prime. Checked the fuel pump kill switch in the trunk and this checks out OK also. I can't believe the fuel pump fried from a battery change. What am I missing???

Does your vehicle have an anti-theft system in it?

Yes it does....

Providing you are using a good key, or even the second one, Something you can try is to remove both battery cables for at least 20 minutes, touch the cable ends together for a second or two then install them back on the battery and go start the engine. Let us know how you made out.

Have two keys. Will give it a try this evening weather permitting and let you know. Thanks!

What does the theft lamp do?
Have you checked all the fuses.
Are you using the ign key by itself and not on a ring with any other coded keys?

gratefuljeff 01-18-2013 10:25 AM

I will check the theft lamp tonight
20 Amp fuse to fuel pump is good
no other coded keys on ring.
