98 Mustang GT Vert a good deal?

Hi, so i been looking to buy a mustang and was actually offered a 1998 Mustang GT convertible for trade of my 2003 Honda Civic. I was wondering about reliability issues, and if what the guy says about it is good or not. it has an auto tranny and he says it takes a second to shift into drive when going from reverse, and he also says the odometer stopped and the owner before him told him that the engine was replaced by a dealer but he has no paperwork. finally, i had a 2002 Mustang GT Convertible 5-spd and at 132k the #3 spark plug blew and was curuious of that still happened on the older non-PI head 4.6's without individual coils.

any help would be appreciated.

(my car is priced at 2200 his is priced at about 1500)
